With the assistance of the Technology Transfer Day Project, the Department of Science and Technology - Cordillera Administrative Region (DOST-CAR) conducted the Seminar on the Harmonization of Intellectual Property Related Policies for Research Development Institutes at the Holiday Inn, Baguio City on 18-20 February 2020.

With researchers from the State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), Higher Education Institutes (HEIs), and other government agencies, the three-day activity aims to clearly identify the roles of the participants in IP protection and management of various R&D works.  

Atty. Lucieden Raz, Project Officer IV of the Investment and Business Operations Division (IBOD) of the Technology Application and Promotion Institute (DOST-TAPI) served as the resource speaker in the said activity. She discussed the Amended Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of Republic Act (RA) 10055 or the Philippine Technology Transfer Act of 2009 and other DOST IP-related Policies such as the Technology Transfer Protocols, Intellectual Property Management Protocols for Government Agencies, and Policy on Governing Contract Research. Meanwhile, Dr. Pita S. Picpican, DOST-CAR Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services (ARD-TS) presented the Guidelines on the Fairness Opinion Report and Written Recommendation.

Moreover, a workshop was conducted among the research academes and other government agencies to align their existing IP policies and protocols with the amended IRR of RA 10055 and DOST IP-related Policies.

Under the Technology Transfer Day Project, Information Drives on the amended IRR of RA 10055 and DOST IP-related Policies were held throughout the country to inform and further promote IP protection and management.
