As the DOST’s lead agency for technology promotion and commercialization, the Technology Application and Promotion Institute (TAPI) conducts the Technology Transfer Day as one of the many strategies to fulfill this mandate.

For the technology transfer and commercialization, the TAPI invites potential adoptors of DOST technologies such as entrepreneurs, investors, government agencies, local government units, and non-government organizations who are in need of technological interventions in their businesses or operations.

STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE

  1. TERM SHEETS

The Term Sheet is the initial agreement containing the summary of the proposed transaction between the licensor and the licensee. It identifies the selected technology, cost of production, and background of the licensing company.

During the signing of the term sheet, the licensor shall ensure that the licensee is fully aware of the terms of the agreement (i.e. technology to be licensed, required documents to be submitted, fees to be paid, etc.).

The term sheets for the technologies are industry-based. The standardized term sheets for each industry can be downloaded here.

  2. FAIRNESS OPINION REPORT

After the term sheet is signed, an applicant will be required to submit documents for the issuance of Fairness Opinion Report (FOR). The technology adoptor should submit the following documents depending on the industry where the technology is based.

  3. TECHNOLOGY LICENSING AGREEMENT

The Technology Licensing Agreement (TLA) is the official contract that allows the licensing party to manufacture the patented technologies. The notarized TLA contains all terms & conditions of the agreement, as well as the license duration and fee, upfront payment fee, and royalty fee.
