Filipinos are well-known music lovers. Guitar is a common instrument present in every household and used in every jam session with friends. However, most Filipinos prefer buying imported guitars than patronizing locally-manufactured ones. One of the reasons could be the inconsistent quality of guitars made by local manufacturers.

Gitara ni Juan addresses the problems relating to manufacturing inconsistencies, intonation, sound quality and playability in locally made guitars. The standardized process of entry-level classical guitar-making and refining was collated and documented in a compendium which the local luthiers, stringed instrument makers, can now follow and apply in their manufacturing processes.
