Mango is one of the major export products of the Philippines. However, several postharvest handling problems such as latex stains, fruit injuries, and shorter shelf life affect the quality of fresh mangoes. In order to compete globally, mango producers and traders need to innovate their production and postharvest practices.
The Integrated Postharvest Facility for mango is a technology that aims to modernize and speed up the postharvest handling for fresh mangoes. It has six units to operate the six (6) postharvest stages. It includes the automatic table sorter for sorting; control wash tank for washing; automated hot water treatment; automated controlled industrial fan for cooling; automated weight classifier for classification according to size and weight; and table for packing.
