To achieve food self-sufficiency in the country, mechanization needs to evolve to increase production and speed up postharvest practices, especially with rice.

The Impeller-Type Rice Mill machine uses impeller as its hulling mechanism. It speeds up the milling process with its milling capacity of 230kg/hour. It is capable of producing both white and brown rice with milling recovery comparable with rubber roll type but higher by 5% as compared with “Kiskisan." The design is suitable for village-level operations, which makes the technology beneficial for smallholder rice farmers.
