Banana is abundant in the Philippines throughout the year. There is high demand for this tropical fruit because of its cheaper price and availability compared to other fruits. Thus, farmers are continually discovering production practices to increase the yield of banana trees.
The Saba Banana Strains has short stature (about 4 meter or less) and early maturing (harvestable at 12-16 months). This intends to make saba banana production more profitable for smallholder farmers.
